393 volunteers participated in Love the Hungry packaging events during the month of October – producing 81,066 Nutri-Plenty® meals. Participating groups included Deb Rakestraw’s Birthday Celebration, First Baptist Church – Grayson, KY, Highland Baptist Church, Prichard Elementary School, and Rullman-Hunger Funeral Home/SE Indiana.
In partnership with WaterStep, a Louisville-based clean water initiative, Love the Hungry was able to deliver more than 7,000 fortified meals to Puerto Rico. The island suffered significant damage from recent hurricanes and many residents lack the essentials of clean water, food and electricity. Nutri-Plenty® meals were delivered to Barranquitas to help feed school children and Love the Hungry will be providing additional meals in the near future.
We also give thanks for the safe arrival of humanitarian aid to South Sudan. A container of 250,000 fortified meals, WaterStep supplies, and 11 biomass cookstoves arrived on October 6. It’s the sixth shipment of aid delivered to South Sudan since conflict erupted in 2013. In partnership with NGO Nile Orphan Care, nearly 1,000 orphaned children are receiving nourishing meals each day.Read More
