For the second consecutive year, Love the Hungry volunteers have packaged more than one million fortified meals! The milestone was reached as churches gathered in Greensburg, IN for a November 22 pre-Thanksgiving event. FFA volunteers from thirteen different States joined Love the Hungry during the FFA National Convention – packaging more than 102,000 Nutri-Plenty™ meals during the National Days of Service. A portion of the meals were distributed to Kentucky families through Feeding America-Kentucky’s Heartland. Meals are also being provided to a project benefiting malnourished children in Mali (West Africa).
October highlights also included a 24 hour Pack-A-Thon organized by volunteers in Grayson, Kentucky. The event produced more than 60,000 meals that will be delivered to Children’s Lifeline – Haiti. 770 volunteers participated in October packaging events – creating 206,418 Nutri-Plenty™ meals.
With 201,000 meals packaged in September, it’s the first time that Love the Hungry volunteers have produced 200,000+ meals in consecutive months.Read More
From 5 PM Friday, October 16 to 5 PM Saturday, October 17, volunteers gathered each hour at First Baptist Church, Grayson, KY with one goal – creating Nutri-Plenty™ meals around the clock. Volunteer teams from churches, youth groups, community organizations, businesses, families and friends rallied around the cause and packaged more than 60,000 fortified meals. The meals will be provided to Children’s Lifeline – a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving Haiti’s most vulnerable children.
Prior to the Pack-A-Thon event, fourth-grade students at Prichard Elementary assembled 8,730 Nutri-Plenty™ meals that are also being included in the shipment to Haiti.Read More
