In 2024, more than 3,300 volunteers participated in 81 packaging sessions throughout the year. With the help of numerous partnerships, Love the Hungry provided 840,000 fortified Nutri-Plenty meals to Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Kenya, Malawi, South Sudan, Ukraine, and the United States to assist children and families most vulnerable to hunger and malnutrition.

More than 30,000 meals were delivered to Eastern Tennessee/ North Carolina in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

More than 400 St. Peter’s Lutheran School (Columbus, IN) students grades K – 8 worked throughout the school day on September 11th to package 31,104 fortified Nutri-Plenty servings. The annual event engages students, teachers, and staff in a meaningful day of service that promotes compassion toward children vulnerable to hunger and teamwork among classmates. 132 cartons of Nutri-Plenty meals were donated to Orphan Grain Train (Jonesville, IN) for distribution to families in rural eastern Kentucky and the southern Texas border. An additional 2,500 meals will be included in a shipment of aid to a mission outreach in Guatemala.

Love the Hungry is once again participating in “Give for Good Louisville” – an online giving event that has substantial impact in our community. The Louisville Marathon has designated Love the Hungry as the official charity partner for the 2024 Full Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10K event to take place Sunday, Nov 3 at the Parklands. Love the Hungry will provide volunteer support and an information booth throughout the day. Runners can register at kentuckyruns.com. Use the promo code LTH10 and receive 10% off registration.

More than 250 volunteers of all ages kicked off the 2024 “Summer of Serving” by packaging 55,000 fortified meals during the month of June! Groups from UPS, First Christian Church (Lawrenceburg, KY), YouthWorks, Amazon, OBAP Aviation Camp, FedEx, and Middletown Christian Church helped multiply the meals at the LTH Packaging Center.

Join us for the 6th Annual Double D Farm Cruise-In benefiting Love the Hungry! On March 2nd, members of the Bardstown Rotary Club and student volunteers from Interact Clubs and local schools helped Love the Hungry celebrate 9,000,000 total meals packaged. In addition to this annual service event, volunteers from St. John Lutheran Church and School (Lanesville, IN), UPS, and the Rotary Club of Franklin, KY helped produce 65,000 fortified meals during the month of March.

Love the Hungry, Partners in Compassionate Care, and Pack Away Hunger teamed up to fill a shipping container with 240,000+ Nutri-Plenty® servings to support the children’s feeding program at Nile Orphan Care in Juba, South Sudan. The meals will help NOC feed more than 600 orphaned children each day.

The mission of Love the Hungry is to provide nutrient-rich meals that alleviate and reverse the effects of malnutrition – especially in young children. With your support, Love the Hungry made a significant impact in 2023, reaching those suffering from food insecurity and hunger throughout the world:

— 4,000+ volunteers of all ages participated in 85 packaging sessions

— Nearly 800,000 Nutri-Plenty servings were packaged – enough to feed 25,000+ children every day for an entire month

— More than 900,000 meals were delivered to Feeding Centers in twelve countries, including Chad, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, South Sudan, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United States

— 60,000 fortified meals were donated to local organizations serving families throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana

War and conflict have shattered Ethiopia, resulting in thousands of children unable to receive food and other essentials needed for a healthy life. Love the Hungry recently partnered with local nonprofit SOS to deliver 70,000 fortified meals and basic medical supplies to a Tigray refugee camp where many children were suffering from malnutrition. In just three days, nutrient-dense Nutri-Plenty® meals were credited for a noticeable improvement in the health of the children!

As the season officially comes to an end, we pause to celebrate the Summer of ’23. Six hundred volunteers participated in Love the Hungry packaging sessions – producing more than 145,000 fortified Nutri-Plenty servings! A container shipment of aid arrived safely at Nile Orphan Care in South Sudan – providing life changing nutrition to hundreds of children each day. More than 120,000 meals were provided to organizations delivering supplies to war-torn Ukraine. In partnership with SOS, nourishing meals are reaching children in Malawi, Ethiopia, and Nigeria, and Love the Hungry donated 15,000 meals to a mission outreach in Guatemala. It’s more than a meal. It’s the means to a healthier tomorrow.

While international distribution helps address the most urgent needs, Love the Hungry has recently provided more than 30,000 meals to assist families in Louisville, eastern Kentucky and southern Indiana. And let’s not forget that the 5th Annual Double D Farm Cruise In raised nearly $20,000 – enabling a $5,000 donation to help Nile Orphan Care build a Nutrition Center in South Sudan. Our heartfelt thanks to the volunteers, organizations, and donors that took action to make the Summer of ’23 a season of meaningful impact!
